Dr. Aaron Simon, Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology, was selected to be one of only 10 participants nationally to participate in the prestigious Comparative Effectiveness Research Training Program (CERT) sponsored jointly by the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) with the American Society of Neuroradiology (ASNR), the Society of Interventional Radiology Foundation (SIRF) and the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI). This rigorous, hands-on training program is designed to support exceptionally promising young investigators who are developing expertise in the methodology and increasingly sophisticated tools needed for performing comparative effectiveness research. The training is delivered over the course of a year in a combination of online modules, web-based sessions and a 2-day, in-person workshop to be held in Chicago in February 2023. Dr. Simon’s proposal entitled “Efficacy of upfront CNS-penetrating systemic therapy in the management of brain metastases” has the potential to uncover new insights and has important implications on clinical practice.
