The goal at UCI Radiation Oncology is to create and support a community of leaders in education and a culture of excellence in teaching and learning; fostering the careers of education in medicine and the sciences; providing educational workshops to improve the skills of instructors; stimulating and supporting the creation and implementation of innovative approaches to teaching and learning; and supporting the educational research and scholarship in medical and graduate education. Ongoing training in equity, diversity, and inclusion is an important part of faculty development. The faculty development series includes lectures on competency-based education; effective teaching; providing feedback (“the good, the bad, and the ugly); physician burnout; formulating a research agenda; teaching quality improvement; building productive teams; and leadership in medicine.
